The purity of embracing the moment
When I was a senior in high school in 1977, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville came out that February, reaching No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
Joy to the world
Under the spell of the holiday spirit, many of us relinquish just enough spare time to string some lights around the eaves and decorate a tree.
MOB rules
In its Holiday Tour of Historic Homes, Museums of Brevard, often referred to as MOB, mixes a generous portion of holiday cheer with a leisurely visit to the Brevard that once was.
Holiday gift guide 2023
Whether you are searching for a unique handmade item, a gift for those who seek adventure, something antique or coastal themed, gift certificates for dining out, a one-of-a-kind piece of art or to purchase a gift with the goal of donating to a favorite charity, the options are endless on the Space Coast.
More pie = happier holidays
The kitchen has always been my laboratory. I’m endlessly curious about food and unafraid to experiment. When I eat something I love at a restaurant, I’m already cooking up the recipe in my head. Some are hits; some are misses. Thankfully, my family and friends are always happy to be my guinea pigs.
Succesful Season
The days from Thanksgiving to Christmas can be make-or-break for area artists. More art is said to sell during November and December than any other time of the year. A big part of the Brevard holiday art scene is three outdoor festivals: the Space Coast Festival in Viera, the Eau Gallie ArtWorks Festival on the weekend before Thanksgiving and the Cocoa Beach Art Festival, which takes place Thanksgiving weekend.
Painter of Florida dreams
Mark Stanford paints the Florida of memories, of palm fronds gently swaying to the songs of the ocean, of the panorama of poinciana trees and hibiscus flowers, of an Indian River Lagoon once clean, clear and teeming with fish.
Icing the Competition
Theatre on Ice is a competitive sport that combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theatre and dance. A team of 8 to 28 skaters forms a cast that tells a story with both free skating and choreography.
Water works
Picture a canoe. What else comes to mind? Mirror lakes, forests of golden-hued trees, the contemplative quiet of nature. Just thinking about canoes is relaxing; contemplating antique canoes, even more so. Those weathered craft add the romance of long-gone eras and adventures to placid daydreams.
