Artsy and energized, South Central Brevard offers a lifetime
of activities.
Downtown Melbourne is home to Melbourne Civic Theatre
and the Henegar Center for the Arts. The night scene
buzzes with restaurants such as Matt’s Casbah, the alwayslively
Meg O’Malley’s and the grand view from the rooftop
restaurant at Hotel Melby, plus watering holes such as Hell
‘n Blazes Brewing Company.
Delta, American Airlines and Allegiant are well represented
at Melbourne Orlando International Airport, as is TUI, the
largest leisure travel company in the world.
Florida Institute of Technology, an award-winning institution
of higher learning, calls Melbourne home, as does Eastern
Florida State College, considered a jewel in the state’s college
system. Its Melbourne campus houses the Maxwell C. King
Center, a performing arts venue that attracts Broadway
touring shows and A-list performers.
With its murals and quaint 1920s buildings and houses, the
Eau Gallie Arts District is a pleasure to visit. EGAD loves
to party, and hosts special events throughout the year.
West Melbourne, once a land of cattle ranches, is one of the
country’s fastest growing areas with planned communities
such as Sawgrass Lakes. This is the home of Space Coast
Field of Dreams, an all-accessible sports complex for
children and adults with special needs.
