Because surveys of Florida Tech students
showed extraordinary interest in electronic
sports, or esports, this year the university
launched an esports program that will
usher Florida Tech into this growing and
increasingly popular new facet of the
collegiate experience.
Housed in a cutting-edge building, the
program is centered on competitive
gaming and is a unique pathway to
multiple careers, whether one is a gamer
or not: coaching, data analytics, design,
production and broadcast, nutrition and
player development, mental health and
wellness, and more.
With 92 percent becoming employed
or attending graduate school after
graduation, Florida Tech alumni go on
to become visionary engineers, scientists,
aviators, innovators, leaders, educators,
athletes and astronauts. For them, the
sky is indeed the limit.
EASTERN FLORIDA STATE COLLEGE
Eastern Florida State College has come
a long, long way since its beginnings in
1960 as Brevard Junior College. At that
time, the students met in the old Cocoa
High building. These days, the college
encompasses four bricks-and-mortar
campuses that span 544 acres throughout
the county and serve more than 35,000
students. Its direct connection with the
University of Central Florida in Orlando
allows for a seamless transfer of credits
from EFSC’s associate programs to UCF’s
baccalaureate track.
EFSC offers a wide range of educational
opportunities, include 25 bachelor
degrees in business, healthcare, computer
technology and education. With no
increase in tuition rates in a decade, the
college has kept education affordable
for everyone.
With one of the top graduation rates in
the state’s 28-member Florida College
System, EFSC serves as a pipeline of
highly skilled graduates to local industry.
It offers four-year degrees in health
care management, along with more than
approximately 100 degrees and certificate
programs such as the Certified Production
Technician, a 10-week program developed
in conjunction with the Economic
Development Commission of Florida’s
Space Coast to promote manufacturing
careers.
A statewide impact study notes that EFSC
boosts the local economy by $1.1 billion.
The Melbourne campus of EFSC is home
to the Maxwell C. King Center for the
Performing Arts, the premier performing
arts center in the space coast.
