Continental Flambé specializes in classic French cuisine presented in an elegant European ambiance.

Opened in 1996, Valerie Bruel comes from a family of chefs. She traveled to America to live in 1989 – though not a chef herself, food inspirations and the restaurant business come naturally to her. Meals are cooked in the open-air kitchen as the restaurant’s chef often assists the staff in meeting guests’ dietary needs or special requests. Valerie continues to develop the menu each year as diners’ tastes and food trends evolve. As patrons became more health conscious, she added wraps and offered chicken and veggie patty substitutions for burgers.

Highlights on the lunch menu include crepes –  light, fluffy and stuffed with delicious ingredients like chicken or shrimp. The French burger with brie, apple and caramelized onions is also a smart choice. The sweetness of the apple with melting brie pairs perfectly with the savory seasoned Angus meat.

For a lighter lunch option, the nut crusted goat cheese salad with a bed of greens and ginger vinaigrette dressing is another excellent choice. Tart goat cheese with tangy ginger vinaigrette and portobello mushroom is light yet satisfying.

For dinner, Continental Flambe’s reasonable prix fixe menu includes an appetizer, salad, entrée and dessert for $27.95, a reasonable price for the quality and quantity of food.

The baked brie with apples and almonds appetizer is a standout. Gooey cheese served in a fluffy crepe with crisp, sweet slices of apples and crunchy almond slices.
Crepes are still a popular choice for dinner, particularly the seafood crepe Newberg made with shrimp, scallops and crab meat. The eight ounce filet mignon served with caramelized onions and Béarnaise sauce is another entrée not to miss.

Dessert options are traditional including the crème brulee which diners often comment is the best they’ve ever tasted, crepes with rich fruit fillings and delicious sauces, and chocolate lava torte with warm chocolate sauce inside a rich chocolate torte.

For wine lovers, Continental Flambé features over 1,000 bottles on their wine list including a variety of “by the glass” choices.

The restaurant hosts exclusive monthly wine tasting dinners with multiple courses and personally chosen wines. Valerie creates innovative menus for each wine dinner with dishes that are not typically available at the restaurant. A recent wine tasting dinner included seasonal dishes like herb stuffed baked chicken with red wine and mushroom reduction, and chocolate bread pudding in pumpkin crème brulee.

Celebrating its 17th anniversary this year, the graceful European setting and the delightfully French cuisine makes dining at Continental Flambe like a taste of France on the Space Coast. Bon appétit!
