SEND INVITATIONS TO YOUR FAMILY

Personalized invitations are a must for a wedding, and who knows your family better than you? Double check to make sure everyone from your grandmother to your second cousin receives a personalized letter letting them know you cannot wait for them to attend the celebration.

HAVE YOUR VOWS PREPARED

This should be obvious, but do not try to wing it when you tell your bride why you have chosen to spend your life with her. Have your vows written down ahead of time. It can be a sweet gesture to have them practiced and spoken from memory, but keep a copy in your jacket pocket just in case.

“GROOM” YOURSELF APPROPRIATELY

In all the hectic planning, sometimes personal hygiene gets overlooked. Do not let this happen on your wedding day! Remember to trim your beard, get a haircut, clip your nails, brush your teeth and take a shower so you look fresh and feel your best on your way to the altar.

DON’T SAY “I DON’T CARE” WHEN SHE ASKS FOR YOUR OPINION

No, you may not be a flower connoisseur, and the color of the bridesmaid’s dress may not be the most fascinating subject to you, but do not make your bride plan all of these details by herself. Provide some feedback! Let her know how you envision your wedding, and work together to create an event that makes you both happy.

LEARN TO DANCE

There is no getting around it, you have to dance on your wedding day. If “graceful” is not exactly a word you would use to describe yourself, consider taking dancing lessons before the big day. Not only will you be dancing with your bride, but there is a good chance you will be encouraged to dance with her mother and possibly your grandmother. With a little learning ahead of time, you can master the dance floor with confidence.

HANDLE THE GROOMSMEN

Ensure each groomsmen is dressed appropriately and shows up on time. You may want to double check your best man is still holding the rings. Make sure your friends have fun, but not Las Vegas fun. This is an event your family and your spouse’s family will be attending.

PLAN THE HONEYMOON

Handle the responsibilities of booking your flight, hotel and travel plans.

BONUS:

Special surprises like flowers and champagne can go a long way in making your new wife very happy.
