editor2It is always fun and energizing to meet outstanding high school graduates, especially the accomplished ones from Holy Trinity who appear in this month’s issue. These students have hundreds of hours of community service, multiple extracurricular activities in both sports and honor societies and all excel academically. In the fall, they will be attending the likes of Harvard, Baylor University and Florida Institute of Technology. We wish them all the best as they pursue their dreams and celebrate this milestone in their lives. Turn to page 30 [of the print or digital magazine] to read more in “Springboard to the Future.”
This is a fitting time because I too have also decided to start a new journey in my career. This month will be my last as senior editor of SpaceCoast Living. Since high school, I wanted to become the editor of a magazine and I thought after moving back here from the University of South Florida, that I would soon be off to a larger city to pursue that dream, but I was fortunate to find a home at SpaceCoast Living. I have been so lucky to work alongside some of the smartest and most talented people. I have no words to describe how thankful I am for everything I have learned and experienced during these seven years. I love the Space Coast and I have enjoyed the opportunity to share on a regular basis, why this area is so unique. Part of what makes the Space Coast so wonderful is the people who live here. I’ve met some of them, worked with an outstanding group of individuals and I can say with confidence that these people and experiences have helped make me who I am today.
I hope that these students have the opportunity to see their dreams realized like I have. So it is with sincere gratitude that I move on to the next step in my own dream at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Growing up in Titusville, the wonderment of being so close to the space industry fascinated me. I’m thrilled to begin my own journey at the place that inspires the hopes and dreams to all those who love space.
All the Best,
Rebecca Shireman
