Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB) Awarded “No. 1 Most Scenic Airport Approach in the U.S.”

The editors at SpaceCoast LIVING received a press release from Orlando Melbourne International Airport last week. We thought this was quite the award (though something those of us who use MLB regularly already knew) and wanted to share it with our readers. The text below is taken mostly from that release.

Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB) has been awarded a spot on PrivateFly’s “Top 10 Most Scenic Airport Landings of 2017.” Among thousands of other airports, MLB was the only U.S. airport to land on the coveted roster, making it the No. 1 Most Scenic Airport Landing in the U.S., and No. 8 Most Scenic Airport Landing in the world.

MLB was chosen by a panel of aviation and travel experts to be included on this year’s shortlist, followed by enthusiastic support from the airport’s passengers, tenants, employees and worldwide fans in an online vote. The airport shares the limelight with others across the globe, including Saba’s Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport (SAB), No. 1, and the U.K.’s London City Airport (LCY), No. 6. Side by side with MLB on the list is the Caribbean’s St. Maarten Airport (SXM), No. 7, famous for its adrenaline-filled low approaches over Maho Beach. Also awarded was Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), No. 10, linked to MLB with seasonal nonstop service via Porter Airlines.

“MLB offers an awe-inspiring welcome before you even land, with a warm, coastal headwind accompanied by an endless view of our breathtaking beaches,” said Greg Donovan, AAE, executive director of MLB. “Depending on where you’re inbound from, you’ll catch sight of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and rocket launchpads, or Disney ships departing Port Canaveral on their way to the Caribbean.” Business travelers, vacationing families and pilots praise MLB’s coastal casual atmosphere, giving them a stunning start and end to their visit.
