New constructionWhen Dr. Richard Schmid first opened his oral and maxillofacial practice in the heart of Melbourne in 1984, he never imagined it would grow to become the largest oral surgery practice in Brevard County. Nearly 40 years later, Dr. Rick Schmid, along with partner Dr. King Kim, are set to open a third location in Titusville, Florida. This location will be the first, full-time, multi-doctor OMS office in North Brevard. Practicing a full scope of oral and maxillofacial procedures, the doctors look forward to offering their expertise to the northern region of Brevard.

This expansion means more than just growth for the practice, but the ability to now serve a broader range of communities. Having been in the works for some time now, getting closer to opening the doors to both established and new patients is, in itself, rewarding. The practice’s accomplishments have been largely driven by a strong referral network of professionals in the dental industry. Additionally, it continues to depend on the dedication of quality staff; many whom have been with the practice for over 20 years. Still, with growth comes many new faces. In June of 2022, Dr. Tyler Banachowski joined the practice and has been an invaluable addition and asset to the Sunrise team. Fast forward to October 2023, the practice looks forward to welcoming a fourth doctor, Dr. Travis Austin.

Collectively, the doctors expertly provide an array of services including complex dental implants, bone grafting, wisdom teeth removal and more. The practice also provides intravenous sedation in addition to general anesthesia. A state-of-the-art Cone Beam CAT scan and VSP (Virtual Surgical Planning) for creating customized splints in corrective jaw deformities as well as implant-supported same day smiles.

In addition to maxillofacial services, Dr. Kim is also board certified in facial cosmetic surgery. He co-authored the textbook Cosmetic Surgery for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in 2010. His specialties include a spectrum of rhytidectomy (facelift) procedures. Furthermore, he routinely performs browlifts, necklifts, blepharoplasties, otoplasties as well as non-surgical facial procedures and dermal fillers. As his facial cosmetic practice continues to grow, monthly consultation events are held to offer new patients incredible deals on procedures they have always wanted. 

With offices conveniently located in Melbourne and Suntree, the completion of Titusville is set for the end of August, 2023 with an Open House scheduled in late October.
