Brevard County, FL – What moves you and how do you get from here, to there? Space Coast Area Transit, along with the Space Coast TPO and ReThink Your Commute, are set to celebrate the second annual Mobility Week, October 28 to November 3, 2017. Sponsored by the District 5 Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), events are being hosted within a nine-county Central Florida region – Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia counties.
Scott Nelson, the Interim Director of Space Coast Area Transit, stated, “The Mobility Week initiative is a grassroots effort to promote awareness of safe and sustainable transportation choices and how those choices can build stronger communities, reduce traffic congestion and improve community health.” In Brevard County, some of the activities and events around Mobility Week include:
■ October 27th Trunk or Treat at Travis Park from 6:00–8:00 PM and October 28th Indialantic Halloween Party from 4:00–10:00 PM: Join the Space Coast TPO at a safe Halloween alternative for kids with plenty of candy and Trick or Treat bicyclist/pedestrian safety information.
■ October 30th and 31st Bus Stop Pop Up Events: Space Coast Area Transit and the Space Coast TPO will be “popping up” at Brevard bus stops, thanking bus riders with info and goodies!
■ November 1st Ride with Jim – Cocoa Beach: Share coffee and conversation with people who help shape Brevard’s Transit System. Registration is required at 321Transit.com/RideWithJim.
■ November 2nd Try Transit Thursday: Show the 321Transit app on any mobile device and Ride for free! To download the app, search “321Transit” at the iTunes app store or Google Play.
■ November 3rd 321Transit.com: Space Coast Area Transit will unveil their new interactive website at 321Transit.com.
A fun, free, online competition called Mix-It-Up Challenge allows contestants to earn points, badges, and prizes, by logging their trips on MixItUpChallenge.com. The challenge is intended to encourage people to mix and match different modes of transport in their daily life and compete for prizes furnished by Mobility Week Partners.
