Family Dermatology & Wellness offers healing environment based on heritage of caring
New to Brevard, Island Dermatology & Wellness combines a dedication to healing and wellness with a heritage of caring and a deep connection with the community.
Board-certified family nurse practitioner Kathleen Verpaele, who co-founded the practice earlier this year with Nichole Venzara Deeks, grew up in Brevard County and has a strong passion for medical and cosmetic dermatology. She earned her master’s degree — with honors — in nursing as a family nurse practitioner from the University of Central Florida and had more than a decade of experience in dermatology and five years in internal medicine.
Like Kathleen, Nichole Venzara Deeks is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and Brevard born and raised. She continues the Venzara family tradition of healing, following her father, plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Frank Venzara II, and her brother, Dr. Frank Venzara III, a board-certified ophthalmologist. Nichole served as a pediatric intensive care nurse for five years and spent four years in the congenital and adult cardiovascular intensive care unit. The University of Tampa graduate received her master’s of science in nursing as a family nurse practitioner in 2018 and has served as a family practitioner in Brevard for the last four years.
Serving as medical director and supervising physician at the new practice is Dr. Frank Venzara II, Nichole’s father. With more than 46 years of medical experience, particularly in plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Venzara is one of the Space Coast’s most respected physicians.
The new practice, located at 6470 U.S. Hwy. 1 in Rockledge, provides a range of services in dermatology and family medicine, as well as a full spectrum of cosmetic and laser modalities.
Patients can enjoy the convenience of a “one-stop” office with experienced staff and state-of-the-art technology ready to tackle general dermatology diagnosis and treatment for skin conditions that include cancer, psoriasis, vitiligo, rosacea, melasma, infections, warts, atopic dermatitis, mole checks, hair and nail disorders, rashes, excessive sweating and scar treatments. Full skin cancer screenings are an integral part of services.
As a family practice, Island Dermatology & Wellness also help patients manage chronic and acute pulmonary, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, urologic, endocrine, reproductive, musculoskeletal and psychiatric disorders. An important facet of the practice is counseling and educational services that address risk factors and disease processes and encourage health promotion. Wellness visits, routine check ups, EKGs, pap smears, pre-op workups and school physicals are part of the services offered.
Cosmetic services round out the menu of services at Island Dermatology and Wellness, where patients can schedule chemical peels, microneedling, facials, fillers, Botox, laser treatments and skin rejuvenation.
