WHAT: Participants unite for the annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life of South Brevard to celebrate people who have been touched by cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change. The Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest peer-to-peer fundraising event to save lives from cancer.

Funds raised help the American Cancer Society attack cancer in dozens of ways, each of them critical to achieving a world without cancer – from developing breakthrough therapies to building supportive communities, from providing empowering resources to deploying activists to raise awareness.

VISUALS/INTERVIEWS: Supporters are welcome to join Relay For Life of South Brevard as they ‘Relay Around the World.’ Join West Shore’s team Tumor Terrors led by Kishen Mitra as they reach their fundraising goal of $15,000 in 2018. Melbourne Mayor Meehan will be in attendance at the survivor reception at 5:00pm. Participants will be kept engaged with Relay Olympics presented by Kenny Johnson and TnT Fitness.

BACKGROUND:
Founded by Dr. Gordy Klatt in Washington in 1985, the Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe with more than 3,000 events. Symbolizing the battle waged around the clock by those facing cancer, the event can last up to 24 hours and empowers communities to take a stand against cancer. Dollars raised by 1.3 million Relay participants across the country help the American Cancer Society attack cancer in dozens of ways – from developing breakthrough therapies to building supportive communities, from providing empowering resources to deploying activists to raise awareness.
