The Brevard Humane Society will be hosting Dog Surfing on the Beach.
COCOA, FL (April 3, 2017) – Surfs up, dog!
Come out and spend the day on the beach watching some incredible dogs hanging 10 and catching some tubular waves on April 16th 8am-4pm at Lori Wilson Park. Hosted by Crystal Cooper of Salty Sweet Clothing who is partnering with the Brevard Humane Society for the canines to compete in the surf and this event promises to shred!
Dignified Dog Academy will be providing 15 minute dog surfing lessons for a donation to the Humane Society, and, for a $5 donation to the homeless pets, a play area on the beach promises to make some playful dogs pretty stoked. A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the “Best Dog Surfer” and the “Best Dog/Human partner Surfer.” Each “doggie” contestant will be judged on set-up, confidence, style, balance, skills, difficulty, wave ride, tricks, length of the ride, wave conditions and de-boarding during each round. Contest starts at 12 noon. Registration is available on-line or day of competition.
The Brevard Humane Society will have shelter dogs available for adoption, merchandise and fun educational information about responsible pet ownership on-site. All canines are welcome as long as they are on-leash, wear County Tags and have proof of current Rabies vaccines.
Founded in 1952 and celebrating 65 years of supporting the community’s homeless pet population, the Brevard Humane Society is Brevard County’s oldest established animal welfare organization. A “no kill for space” shelter, they are dedicated to speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves. They educate the community on responsible pet ownership and the humane treatment of animals, advocate for spaying/neutering to reduce the homeless pet population and provide the best quality care to Brevard’s abandoned animals by placing them with responsible, caring owners in “forever” homes.
