See what you've been missing
Many medical treatments are intended to simply slow the advance of a deteriorating condition. In fact, in most cases that is an acceptable outcome. Few can actually turn back the hands of time and return you to where you were 20, 30 or even 40 years ago. But that is often the case with Dr. Rafael Trespalacios’ (Dr. Tres) “CataLaze” cataract treatment.
One person described cataracts as beginning with a blurriness or haziness in one or both eyes. Others have found, while driving at night, they see halos around lights and headlights. Some tend to misread words, so that “car” looks like “cat,” or a vibrant red is mistaken for maroon.
All of these are signs of one of the most common causes of vision loss in people over 40. In fact, sometime after age 50, most of us are likely to hear our eye care professional say, “You have cataracts.” Cataracts are a clouding of the eye’s natural lens and are the leading cause of blindness worldwide. As you age the chances of developing cataracts spikes from 5.2 percent in those 50-54, to 68.3 percent in those over 80.
The good news is, though cataracts cannot be corrected with glasses, contact lenses or LASIK procedures, Dr. Tres, of Brevard Eye, is able to perform an outpatient surgical procedure that could only be described as life-altering. For most patients, they feel the clock on their eyesight has been rolled back decades.
Experiencing the Difference
Dr. Tres explained, “Aging and other factors cause proteins in the eye’s lens to clump together forming these cloudy areas. Cataract surgery is a procedure to remove the cloudy lens and, in most cases, replace it with an artificial lens, called an intra-ocular implant, or, IOL.”
Cataract surgery is one of the most common surgical procedures in the developed world, which is why the CataLaze Refractive Suite of cataract treatment is such a differentiator and one of several procedures that Dr. Tres was first to introduce in the region. It also helps explain why he has been recognized as one of the “Best Doctors” in the country.
The technology used in CataLaze allows Dr. Tres to analyze a patient’s eye during cataract surgery, which gives him the most precise and premium lens implant solution, in real time.
“This takes some of the guess work out of the equation and therefore can dramatically improve patient outcomes,” he said.
Amazingly, the time for one of these procedures is less than 15 minutes and in as little as a few hours typically results in long-lasting clear vision and
in many cases eliminates the need for glasses altogether. Imagine, in the time you would take to get a quote from Geico, you can completely change how you see life.
As we move closer to a new decade, Baby Boomers’ need for cataract surgery will peak in 2020.
“Though no procedure can guarantee 20/20 vision,” Tres said. “What if part of your personal vision for 2020 included a transformational vision experience that moves you towards 20/20?”
We all know life brings changes, and one of those can be the quality
of our eyesight. But as the team at
Brevard Eye says, “We fix your eyesight, so you fix your eyes on what matters most.”
