March is Women’s History Month, and weVENTURE is hosting its 9th annual Women Who Rock Awards Series Luncheon to celebrate local women and support the National Women’s History Project (NWHP.)
The National Women’s History Project is a nonprofit organization founded in 1980, providing women with information and educational materials and programs as a part of its mission to recognize and celebrate the diverse and historic accomplishments of women.
“weVENTURE hosts this event each year because it recognizes the hard work of female leaders in our community and allows us to confirm our support for what they bring to and do on behalf of our community,” said Melbourne‘s weVENTURE Director Wanda Lipscomb-Vásquez. “We are honored to recognize such hard-working, deserving women and we hope that this event provides inspiration to young girls and women for the next generation of local leaders.”
Powered by Florida Institute of Technology, weVENTURE accelerates growth for womenpreneurs by providing customized coaching, business education, mentorship and networking. weVENTURE has three Central Florida locations (Melbourne, Rockledge and Orlando) and is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. Open nominations were held through December 2015 to determine the deserving candidates of the 2016 awards.
The luncheon will be held Thursday, March 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place. The following awards will be announced:
• Entrepreneur of the Year Award
