The sweet smell of vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, honey, pumpkin and caramel all conjure up nostalgia of the holidays. The taste of gingerbread cookies, candy canes, eggnog, and sweet potato pie provide the comfort of home for the holidays for most and what better gift to give than a hand ‘made with love’ treat to those you adore.
So, for this issue of SpaceCoast Living, we curated these local ‘sweet’ makers and bakers who churn out amazing treats that are perfect for gifts or personal indulgences this holiday season.
So why do people like getting and giving sweets for the holidays? Kimberly Gathercole Merrick owner of For the Love Cake Co. has a good idea, “Cake and desserts elevate a gathering to a celebration. One of my favorite quotes is ‘a party without cake is just a meeting’, it’s so true. They make it extra special. We tend to allow ourselves to indulge a little more during the holidays and there is no better way than giving a cake or dessert that is made with love to your special loved ones.” You hear that friends and family!?
