It is almost sunset at Port Canaveral. Rising Tide Tap & Table is busy for a Monday night. There is a good casual crowd eating, drinking and sharing stories from the weekend. Rising Tide is that kind of place. Gary Foreman has pulled himself away to sit with SpaceCoast LIVING and tell us about this restaurant, just now celebrating its first year. Foreman is a friend of, and business partner with, Rich Hensel (of Fishlips, another local icon), and a restaurant entrepreneur for many years.

“Obviously with Rich’s activities at his restaurant, he knew about this location and its opportunities, especially at that time when we opened,” Foreman explained. “We negotiated with the local family who owned the bakery here and acquired the leasehold for this property and then spent another two years of renovations to create a unique ambiance throughout the restaurant.”

Foreman and Hensel wanted the restaurant to be an everyday location. “My restaurant experience is beer and pizza, and one of the pieces that came with the restaurant was this really beautiful Italian baking oven. So, of course, we make artisanal thin crust pizzas.

WE WANT TO ENSURE OUR MENU IS ANCHORED IN ACCESSIBLE FOOD – PIZZAS, TACOS AND BURGERS. THEY’RE DIFFERENT AND MADE WITH HIGHER QUALITY INGREDIENTS, BUT THEY’RE STILL PRICED THE SAME AS EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE PORT.”
