With summer over and cooler months on the horizon, it’s that time of the year again to welcome the sweet aroma of fall. Although cozy fires, fleece blankets, hot cider and the like are classic seasonal delights, typically they don’t complement our local, warm climate. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible to welcome the season into your home with some unique fall favorites. Nothing screams fall more than carved pumpkins and baskets of colorful leaves scattered about, but did you know there’s another way to make each room pop this season? Some of the most original design tricks are found at your local grocery and home improvement stores. Start by taking a trip to your nearest marketplace.

Your Shopping list:

Bag of apples

Jar of cinnamon sticks

Package of votive candles

Carve out a small area at the top of the apple, place the candle inside, and arrange the cinnamon sticks and apples together in a decorative basket or bowl. Voila! Your custom-made centerpiece just added the finishing touch to one of the tables in your home.

Let’s talk florals. The quickest and easiest way to get your home fall-ready with decor sure to impress starts by incorporating floral arrangements in and around your home. Even the smallest addition of potted mums and pansies paired with some classic seasonal pieces, such as pumpkins and gourds, can make your entrance something to talk about. Better yet, bring some of those items inside to create a fall ambiance in your foyer.

Don’t forget to add a few floral vases throughout your space to set the tone of each room. Try displaying flowers with warm tones, such as sunflowers. These fall favorites will immediately dress up a room when displayed nicely.

Last, but certainly not least, are fall foods. How does food tie in with fall decor? It’s simple. Even the smallest hint and aroma of pumpkin cookies fresh out of the oven can infiltrate your home and set the mood for fall.

No matter how warm it may be outside, go crank up your air conditioner and start decorating for fall before the season is over!
