Kearn to Weave at Fiber Guild Meeting

The Space Coast Weavers & Fiber Artists will meet at 10 am on Saturday , January 27 at the Merritt Island Public Library, 1195 N. Courtenay Parkway. Following a short business meeting, there will be a workshop , “Weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom.”

A rigid heddle loom is a fantastic option for both new and experienced weavers. They are easy to learn, affordable and portable. You can weave a piece of cloth as wide as your loom and it’s wonderful for weaving scarves, shawls, towels, fabric and home textiles as well as artistic wall hangings.

Knit and Stitch, a fiber arts shop in Cocoa Village, has loaned the guild several rigid heddle looms . Members Barbara Pietruk and Jeanie McCormack will warp the looms and have them ready for you to weave on.

This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience with this type of loom and see for yourself how easy it is to be a weaver.

Since 1983 SCW&FA has been Brevard’s go to guild for fiber arts: spinning, weaving, basketry, rug hooking, quilting, dyeing and more.  The guild helps fiber artists, beginning or advanced, learn through workshops and the informal exchange of ideas. They also work to educate the public about the fiber arts.   For more information call Jeanie McCormack at 321-266-1610.

The event is finished.
