“By far, my favorite part of this job is getting to know my patients and helping each one of them feel healthier and happier about their teeth,”  – D. Veronica Yu

From a young age, Dr. Veronica Yu saw the compassion, love and respect her father, a gastroenterologist, possessed for his patients. Inspired by his actions, she followed in his footsteps and joined the healthcare industry as a dentist.

Dr. Yu earned her bachelor’s degree in History from Brown University in 2009. She then went on to achieve her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Columbia University. She was one of six senior students selected to participate in the Comprehensive Implantology Continuum, where she learned about treatment planning, restoration, and placement of implants. She also completed a General Practice Residency at North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital, receiving further training in numerous dental specialties including endodontics, pediatrics, oral surgery, prosthodontics, and the management of medical and dental emergencies. In 2016, she became a Certified Invisalign Provider. Today, she practices dentistry alongside her father-in-law, Dr. Cedric Chenet, and husband, Dr. Derek Chenet, at Dental Excellence Melbourne.

“By far, my favorite part of this job is getting to know my patients and helping each one of them feel healthier and happier about their teeth,” said Dr. Yu.

Outside of the dental world, Dr. Yu played tennis competitively in high school and has met with three out of the four “Big Four” in men’s professional tennis: Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and her idol Roger Federer. She hopes to meet the fourth, Rafael Nadal, someday! She also enjoys watching films and listening to music. She is an avid singer, live performer, and skilled musician on the violin and guitar.
