Maybe it’s the air, or the water or the weather, but the Space Coast seems to nurture those who favor the road less taken, those individualists willing and eager to carve their own paths.
This issue of Space Coast Living looks at several of these unique people who make our community so special, like the engaging group of free spirits who chose Belair Courtyard as their place to do business. Members of this micro-community within the mini-community that is eclectically charming Cocoa Village are following their passions, be they mastering the ancient but now largely forgotten art of the master butcher or bringing the treasures of Turkey to the Space Coast.
Melbourne Municipal Band is celebrating 60 years of making music, and Space Coast Living is celebrating this group of musicians who give their time and talent so the community can enjoy the priceless gift of music at concerts and dances, and also provides a free summer band program for youth.
Down in Grant, David Murano, owner of the Italian Fisherman, is making his own kind of music with a unique concept for his restaurant. Mix a whole lot of food with some playing card magic, set against a stage that is a mashup of Jaws meets The Sopranos, add a dash of live music and a whole lot of joking around and you get the recipe for Murano’s quirky eatery.
With the arrival of the warm days of summer, Floridians know they need to plan ahead for hurricane season. Space Coast Living should make it a little more bearable, as it is giving you a head start on getting ready for what is expected to be another active year for hurricanes. Proper preparation, which is crucial for protecting lives and minimizing damage, also helps communities recover faster by reducing strain on emergency services and ensuring residents can quickly rebuild their lives.
Enjoy these and more summer reading in Space Coast Living. See you in the fall with more.
