Brevard has something for everyone

Best of the Space Coast logo 2025Life is grand along the Space Coast, as Basenji hounds, Apollo and Artemis, know. The winter issue of Space Coast Living features a look at Brevard County amenities from a dog’s eye view — from Apollo’s and Artemis’ favorite dog treat bakery to space-themed rooms at a local pet resort to a mobile doggie gym that visits pets in their homes, gets them off the couch and helps them shed a few pounds.

Dogs aren’t the only animals in this issue’s spotlight. Equines — of the therapy variety — are the focus of our story on Harmony Farms. Their equine-assisted therapy program has, for decades, helped children and adults with a wide range of cognitive, physical and emotional conditions to forget their challenges and revel in the joy of riding a horse.

Brevard County is known for space and technology, but its residents love the arts. And sometimes, they are fortunate enough to be able to enjoy the visual arts in unexpected spots, thanks to Brevard Cultural Alliance’s Art in Public Places. The program displays the works of some of the county’s best artists in out-of-the-ordinary locations, ranging from Melbourne Orlando International Airport to government offices and even restaurants, such as Urban Prime in Viera. Read about how BCA brings the art to our doorsteps in this issue.

Our residents are also one of a kind, such as author, public speaker and award-winning gospel singer Carol Chisolm. Meet this Florida Gospel Singer of the Year in this issue.

Now that the holidays are history, it’s time to shape your calendar for 2025 with activities that engage those little gray cells, get rid of the holiday pounds, and strengthen both your sense of purpose as well as the well-being of our community.

To exercise your mind, consider participating on one — or more —of the trivia nights in the Melbourne/Viera area. It’s low-cost, addictive and fun.

To exercise your body, get inspiration for your next home project from Space Coast Living’s final installment of a historic Victorian residence.

To exercise your sense of purpose, check out our article on ways to become more involved. You’ll get out of the house, meet new people and help many worthy causes.

An annual rite at this time of year is the return of Space Coast Living’s Best of the Space Coast awards. They are our readers’ favorite businesses, organizations, places and people, and they have earned serious devotion. Congratulations to the winners, for the competition is always fierce!

Grab this issue of Space Coast Living to further enhance one of the loveliest times of the year in Brevard. Before we realize it, the sizzling summer temperatures will be back.
