A Collaboration of Physicians, Hospital Systems & Universities
On April 27, 2013, the Brevard Indo-American Medical & Dental Association (BIMDA) will host its 11th annual medical expo and continuing medical education (CME) conference for physicians and health care providers at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place. Over the years, this event has gathered partners from the large organizational players – hospitals and physician groups, to small and mid-size providers.
The uniqueness of this event lies in its ability to bring together physicians from all over Brevard and neighboring counties to learn and share in the latest developments in medicine. A strong focus is maintained in selecting world-class speakers from institutions that promote research in the various fields of medicine. Accreditation for physician CME is provided courtesy of HRMC CME Committee under FMA guidelines.
“As we enter an uncertain environment in health care with the advent of health care reform, physicians need to work alongside with area hospitals to bring cost-effective care to the citizens of Brevard County. BIMDA is providing a platform for the same,” says Dr. Ashok Shah, internist, BIMDA Board of Regents member and Parrish Medical Center board member.
BIMDA’s first dentist president, Dr. N. Rao Kopuri, an orthodontist, adds: “BIMDA seeks ways to bring together the various branches of medicine and dentistry to present the patient with an overall health evaluation. It is exciting for us to get together and learn the latest about each other’s specialties.”
Keynote speakers at the gala banquet are Dr. Anthony Silvagni, dean of Nova Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine who will speak on “The Future of Medicine and Graduate Medical Education,” and Honorable Congressman Bill Posey who will address “Legislative Updates and the Future of Medicine.”
The daytime conference is open to all physicians and physician assistant staff. The dinner program is for members, sponsors and invited guests.
