with aircraft manufacturers, the airlines, and
on super critical military hydraulic systems.
But I also step it down to the everyday
 customer with construction equipment,
farm equipment, or other regular hydraulic
equipment.” Henryy continued, “For the most
 part, I compete with the
 technician who is paid
 anywhere between $15
 to $20 an hour, who
 most likely can only fix
 one thing.” When SCL
 asked about his first
 success, Henryy said,
 “My first major account
 was United Rentals.
 Long story short, I went
there to buy a drill and
 I asked to speak to
 the service manager. I
 wasn’t there for a sales
call. I just went to buy
 a piece of equipment.
I spoke to the service manager and told him
who I was and what I was about. He told me
he’d give me a shot right there and then. I
said, we’re not a big company, but the quality
of our service is going to be nothing like our
competition because they only do hoses
and fittings. I told them that if they have a
technical problem, we’ll figure it out. I said,
‘if you don’t like our service, you can tell us.’
They gave us a shot and they never looked
back. From there, Mercury Hydraulics has only
 grown and grown.”
Lastly, Henryy added, “There is no other shop
that I know of in the state of Florida, that is
a full-service hydraulic shop that also offers
a 24-hour mobile service. We design and
 build, we completely manufacture systems
in house. No other hydraulic company out
there that offers hose and fittings, and has a
mobile service, does that. We’re an OEM and
we’re the service part of it also. That alone
sets us apart from our competition.”

On a side street in an industrial area of
West Melbourne is a small hydraulics
company upsetting the status quo in
Central Florida. Mercury Hydraulics is quickly
becoming the go to company in the industry
 for service, fabrication, and advanced
hydraulics. Space Coast Living took a few
minutes recently to meet the owner/founder,
Steve Henryy alongside his iconic camo,
 military-inspired mobile repair vehicle.
Henryy began with, “I started this company in
2014 when I was 23 years old. I started in New
Jersey, went out to California, then eventually
found my way down to Central Florida. I
have an uncle who has lived here for about
20 years and owns a tow truck company.
He was telling me there are not many
hydraulic companies in the area. I saw that
the cost of living, and the cost of business is
substantially cheaper than California and at
the time, my sole business income was from
defense contracting. I was renting a space in
California, and I thought it was a no brainer of
an opportunity. I’d be paying like a fifth of the
cost. So, I bought a house here, rented a little
 shop and set up shop.”
When we asked him about his business plan,
he added, “What sets me apart from every
other hydraulic company is that, not only
am I the owner, but I can also do every part
of the business. I have a degree in aerospace
 engineering. My background includes working
