GET TO KNOW
Dr. Bryan Parry
Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon
Q Why did you go into this career?
DR. PARRY I really enjoy orthopedic surgery
because it is a very problem-focused career.
Typically, the patients I partner with have a
specific concern that can be addressed by
medicines, therapy, surgery or a combination
of methods. Knowing I can play a role in their
healing experience is immensely rewarding.
Q You have an interesting role at Parrish
Healthcare as an orthopedic surgicalist.
Can you tell us more about this specialty?
DR. PARRY I have had the unique opportunity
to partner with Parrish Healthcare to create the
Orthopedic Surgicalist Program.
This is a new concept whereby the orthopedic
surgeon is hospital-based and readily available
for patient evaluation and care.
Q How does the Orthopedic Surgicalist Program
benefit patients?
DR. PARRY It allows patients to be seen and
evaluated quickly because my focus is on
patients in the ER and inpatient setting. Let’s take
the example of someone who fell and now
needs surgery due to a hip fracture. I am often
able to repair the injury in the operating room
within 24 hours of admission.
Q How does this help long-term?
DR. PARRY Studies show that the quicker a
patient is stabilized with surgery and receives
physical therapy, the better the outcome.
This means we can get you back to your normal
activities faster than ever before!
Q What is the best advice for current and
potential patients?
DR. PARRY Please don’t ignore issues. It is much
easier to get evaluated for an orthopedic problem
soon after the injury rather than putting up with
an on-going problem. Often, whatever issue you
are facing can be resolved more quickly and
easily if it is evaluated sooner. Many times, we
can even avoid surgery if we are able to be
proactive with treatment.
