STRATEGIC THINKER. SKILLED PROBLEM
SOLVER. STRONG COMMUNICATOR.
Those terms describe Moses Harvin II, Chair of the Board of Directors
of the Eastern Florida State College Foundation that provides student
scholarships.
Harvin is a key player in guiding the Foundation’s fundraising efforts
and turning the generosity of donors into scholarships that help
students pay for their education. His success and that of the entire EFSC
Foundation team speaks for itself.
In the past year, the Foundation awarded a record $839,000 in scholarships
to 800 students. The Foundation’s endowment also grew to a
record $29 million.
The achievements came at a critical moment for students as the college
navigated the COVID-19 pandemic that caused economic hardship.
That made the scholarships more important than ever, serving as a
lifeline to remaining in the classroom.
“The community is really impressed by all the growth and new programs
at the college, such as the ability to earn a Bachelor Degree in many
fields. People see the impact and so do businesses, and that’s why
they’re donating,” said Harvin.
He also credited EFSC President Dr. Jim Richey “for bringing a lot of
passion and excitement to the college, such as the new $87 million
master plan for the Cocoa Campus. The public is impressed and
responding to that energy through increased giving.”
Harvin is president of Progressive Cleaning in Rockledge, which
he founded.
