More pie = happier holidays

The kitchen has always been my laboratory. I’m endlessly curious about food and unafraid to experiment. When I eat something I love at a restaurant, I’m already cooking up the recipe in my head. Some are hits; some are misses. Thankfully, my family and friends are always happy to be my guinea pigs.

The days from Thanksgiving to Christmas can be make-or-break for area artists. More art is said to sell during November and December than any other time of the year. A big part of the Brevard holiday art scene is three outdoor festivals: the Space Coast Festival in Viera, the Eau Gallie ArtWorks Festival on the weekend before Thanksgiving and the Cocoa Beach Art Festival, which takes place Thanksgiving weekend.

Picture a canoe. What else comes to mind? Mirror lakes, forests of golden-hued trees, the contemplative quiet of nature. Just thinking about canoes is relaxing; contemplating antique canoes, even more so. Those weathered craft add the romance of long-gone eras and adventures to placid daydreams.

If dogs could be awarded advanced degrees, Jammer would have a Ph.D. diploma hanging in his doghouse. To earn his place as a Health First facility dog, Jammer had to successfully complete intensive training at the Orlando campus of Canine Companions.
