“Loosen Up!” a Painting Workshop at the Studios of Cocoa Beach
The Studios of Cocoa Beach, 159 Minutemen Causeway in Cocoa Beach is hosting a workshop for beginning and experienced painters on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 12:30 to 4:30 pm “Loosen Up!” will be taught by Souby Boski. This workshop will help you expand your painting perspective.
Souby uses gestural and abstracted forms to define her richly textured compositions. Her loosely painted canvases reflect a visceral connection with her subjects. She holds a BA in Art Education from Stetson University and a MALS in Art from Wesleyan University. Since 2004 she has been teaching painting workshops throughout Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Florida.
Students, who can use acrylic or oil paints, will learn to apply paint in a gestural, painterly manner! Techniques and observations focus on what it takes to “loosen-up” your paintings. Nearly all of these tips have a common denominator – simplification. The more you simplify what you do, the more it frees your mind to concentrate on staying loose. Students will practice using bigger brushes, more paint and working faster. We will take color to new unexpected places by working with various colors and departing from realism. Students will bring their own supplies including several canvases, reference photos, and painting supplies plus an easel. A complete list is on the Studios website.
Fee for the class is $100. For questions about the content of the class contact Souby at 203-917-0519 or email@example.com. Registration is online at www.studiosofcocoabeach.org
