DESCRIPTION:For the month of September the Studios of Cocoa Beach is pleased\nto present the work of three young artists that responded to an\ninvitation to exhibit their work in a competition for prizes.\nKatherine Watters, age fifteen years, won first prize. Second prize\nwas split between and Marina Baldueza, age twenty and Ava Raineri,\nage thirteen years. The purpose was to encourage young artists to\nparticipate in a real, professionally presented exhibition to show off\ntheir best works.\nIn addition, a new artist in the Studios, Sonia Mueller, is showing ten\nto fifteen paintings in this month’s exhibition with many views from her\nnative country, the island of Cuba. On her permanent wall in the\nStudios, she shows painting based on landscapes and nature. Sonia\nworks in several mediums including oil and acrylic.\nJackie Haggar, a permanent artist in the Studios, is exhibiting five of\nher acrylic paintings in addition to her permanent wall. Her\nlandscapes and ocean scenes are done in the expressionist style.\nShe enjoys creating calming scenes painted in muted, earthy colors.\nHer goal is to bring to the viewer an awareness of the beauty that\nsurrounds us.\nThe exhibition runs from Mon., Sept. 2 to Sun., Oct. 6.\nA Reception will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 6:00 to 8:30.\n
