Real-Life Wedding Garden Party Perfection

Alex and Craig’s wedding day was beyond gorgeous – it was personal – with Alex’s childhood home as the backdrop in addition to the many family and friends who took a special part in various aspects of the day. Their wedding took place on March 14, at Alex’s parents’ home on the river in Merritt Island.
After a heartfelt ceremony officiated by Alex’s grandfather on the riverfront lawn of a generous neighbor, friends and family made their way through a wooded path to the Baer property and enjoyed a leisurely cocktail hour.
Alex’s parents hand-made all of the farm tables to seat over 300 guests, as well as several different bars that were used during the reception. Her father also constructed a large dance floor and hung market lighting in both the front and back of the property, using the home itself, surrounding trees, and large posts he planted in the ground. Alex, Craig and other family members helped with many of these projects.
Alex and Craig also created a unique seating chart using magnetic signs and personalized magnets for each guest, revealing the message “Eat, Drink and Be Married,” as the pieces were removed one by one. Matt’s Casbah provided the amazing dinner and hors d’oeuvres. The Melbourne restaurant even dressed and set all the tables per Alex’s vision, which came to life with gorgeous florals by Roses Are Red Floral Design.
A family style/churrascaria dinner was served on the front lawn at sunset, including various salads, paella and grilled meats carved tableside, followed by delicious pies – a nod to Pi day (3.14.15.)
All guests arrived on Travelynx buses to alleviate parking issues in the quaint Georgianna neighborhood. Stepping off the bus, each guest received a recommended pair of flip flops to help comfortably navigate the rustic island terrain. While waiting for all the buses to arrive, family and friends mingled and enjoyed the fabulously fun bluegrass band, Atlantic Bluegrass – Catch the Wave, while drinking sweet tea and snacking on boiled peanuts and popcorn.
The reception was a nonstop party with a full dance floor all night as the band Phase 5 kept everyone dancing their flip flops off.
It was fun – with music, food and drink plentiful. Best of all, the day was authentic and meaningful with gracious hosts, happy guests and love all around.
