Not all custom built homes are designed or created the same; sometimes they are a true work of art, fashioned by a team of artists, who strive to create the perfect mix of beauty and function, style and quality. For Jackie and Jim Caprara, this piece of art they now call home began with Christopher Burton Luxury Homes.

Jim, Director and Manager of RW Baird Office in Merritt Island and his wife Jackie selected Christopher Burton Luxury Homes based on their use of superior building materials, quality, craftsmanship and advanced construction methods demonstrated at the builder’s model.
“It was totally different in terms of quality,” Jackie said.
The couple relish the “small town feel” of Viera after Jim’s work brought the couple to this area 17 years ago by way of Clearwater and Palm Beach. This love of the community kept the couple wishing to stay in Viera when they began dreaming about a new home, with all the upgrades they envisioned and plenty of room for their grown children and grandchildren to visit.
After finding the perfect lot in Wyndham, set on the Duran Golf Course with not one, but two spectacular lake views, Jackie began working with the Burton team to create their dream home with the attention to detail that would reflect the couple’s personality.
From the beginning, the Capraras knew they wanted a few key details in their home. A custom gym for Jim’s endurance training (Jim is an accomplished Endurance Athlete and Ironman,) space for entertaining family and friends, including an outdoor kitchen and fireplace, and plenty of room for guests to have privacy were a must.
“We love to entertain so the openness was important,” Jim said of the home’s structural design.
Hand-blown glass pendant lighting from Italy, custom cabinets and granite countertops were all handpicked by Jackie.
From the moment you enter the home’s front door and step into the open great room, the couple’s creativity and Burton Luxury Homes’ quality and craftsmanship are on display. The stunning views are obvious and immediately the home’s lush elements shine through.
Jackie’s discovery of beautiful handmade porcelain glass tile from Ann Sacks, inspired the focal point of the great room, a uniquely tiled floor to ceiling fireplace. Distinctive sconces from the UK placed on each side of the fireplace balance the glamorous tile. Across from the fireplace, the kitchen includes handsome hand-made custom cabinetry, amazingly beautiful granite countertops and the luxuries every cook dreams of; double wall ovens and a six burner gas range top, something that Jackie knows will come in handy, especially on Thanksgiving. Hand-blown glass pendant lighting imported from Italy hangs above the counter, another detail carefully selected by Jackie. Every detail from top to bottom including cork wallpaper with silver metallic inlay, makes the space beautiful and functional.

The expansive great room easily flows out to the large lanai with a gourmet outdoor kitchen, pool and spa and stone-faced outdoor fireplace. When not entertaining, the patio is a peaceful respite where the couple can enjoy the wildlife that visits the lake regularly and watch the golfers play the famed 16th hole at Duran.
Cathy Lane, Lead Designer and Manager of Inspirations Home Design Center, a Christopher Burton Company, worked with Jackie to connect the unique materials Jackie found and loved seamlessly with the furnishings and details from the Design Center. Starting with automation, wiring, plumbing and flooring through to the cabinets, finishes, paints and fixtures the process was a breeze.
“The Inspirations Design Center is an asset,” Jackie said. “Cathy Lane is an accomplished designer.”

Another key component of the home was Jim’s gym. The couple decided to use part of the three-car garage to create a custom home gym, fully equipped with all the gear needed for Jim to train for competitive races. Jim counts the gym as his favorite space in the house. The commercial grade rubber flooring, Bose sound system and custom art men by Ancizar Marin perfect the room’s design and style.
From the flooring to ceilings, Jackie worked with the Inspirations Home Design Center to create truly custom details that showcase their love for the unique.
The finished product is a perfect home for the couple that is more than just a beautiful residence; the Capraras know they have also built a relationship for life with the team of Burton professionals.
