Once I made this Asparagus and Gruyere Pastry, I vowed to never eat asparagus any other way. This side dish is melt-in-your-mouth delicious! It’s a creative way to remake your typical asparagus dish. The gruyere compliments the asparagus so perfectly and the pastry gives the dish a nice flaky crunch. It looks fancy served at your dinner table but it’s one of the easiest recipes I make. Give it a try, I promise you’ll love it!

Ingredients:

1 8-oz. package refrigerated crescent rolls

1 lb. asparagus

1/2 lb. Gruyere cheese, thinly sliced

Olive oil

Salt

Pepper

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Roll out crescent rolls completely (do not separate). Pinch together all seams to combine into one large rectangle. Bake on a greased baking pan at 400 degrees for 12 minutes.

When the pastry is done, top with sliced Gruyere cheese. Layer the asparagus on top.

Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Continue to bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.

Serving Suggestions:

Cut this pastry into squares and serve it aside your favorite main dish. It pairs well with a simple chicken dish, like my Ranch Chicken which I shared last week.
