Westgate River Ranch Blends
Florida Cowboy History & Glamping
For a unique vacation experience, guests can unleash their inner cowboy at Central Florida’s Westgate River Ranch on the same land where Florida’s first cowboys roamed. Infused with Florida cowboy history, the resort’s variety of accommodation options, amenities and activities appeal to virtually any traveler. Located approximately 90 miles south of Orlando and 80 miles west of Tampa, the ranch is the perfect destination for guests who seek something different, offering everything from a weekly championship rodeo to glamping (glamorous camping.)
After introducing the concept of glamping, Westgate River Ranch further elevated its popular upscale outdoor accommodations with the launch of a personal glamping concierge. This service, synonymous with a hotel concierge, is now available 24-7 to ensure the comfort of glampers as they experience the largest dude ranch east of the Mississippi.
Situated on 1,700 lush acres in the heart of Florida’s cattle lands, Westgate River Ranch is surrounded by approximately 400,000 acres of state and federally protected wetlands. Despite the perception of the American cowboy being unique to the Western United States, the first American cowboys were from Florida. Westgate River Ranch is located on one of the old cattle trails where Florida’s first cowboys herded wild cattle in the 1700s.
Today, the ranch stands as a continual reminder of the cowboys’ contribution to Florida culture and heritage. A 1,200-seat rodeo arena offers guests a true cowboy experience each week. Home to the longest-running Saturday night championship rodeo in the state, the event features trick riding, bull riding and barrel racing. Families will also enjoy a Friday and Saturday night street party with dancing under the stars at the outdoor dance hall and roasting marshmallows on an open fire. Kids will enjoy petting and feeding barnyard animals and livestock at the petting farm, while the whole family can go horseback riding or for a dinnertime hayride along the Kissimmee River – spotting abundant wildlife while being serenaded by a singing cowboy, culminating with a family-style country buffet. To add to this authenticity, guests can even watch herds of buffalo and long-horn cattle grazing just outside their doorstep.
Following a multi-million dollar renovation in 2013, Westgate River Ranch introduced the concept of glamping to combine the fun and camaraderie of camping with the conveniences of a hotel room. Outdoor glamping tents are pre-set on raised platforms and include deluxe interiors, a screened-in porch and access to private bathrooms. The ranch also offers deluxe two-bedroom cabins, ranch-themed lodge guestrooms, RV and traditional camping sites.
The personal glamping concierge eliminates the need for guests to worry about traditional camping chores. Glampers can fully relax and satisfy a craving for the outdoors while a concierge facilitates everything from scheduling daytime activities to starting campfires at night. The concierge even delivers hot cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit and coffee to glamping tents every morning.
Overnight glamping rates start at $149. For more information, or to book a glamping experience or package at Westgate River Ranch, visit WgRiverRanch.com or call (863) 692-1321.
