Maksim and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, the familiar stars of ABC’s hit show “Dancing with the Stars” are coming to the Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts in Melbourne. The brothers are bringing to life the show they have dreamed about since childhood, combining an honest and unfiltered narrative of their life story, with their well-known world class dancing, creativity and passion.
“Val and I have pushed each other to be better dancers every day since we were kids, and this show will fulfill a lifetime dream to perform on the same stage together across the country.  We want to connect with our audience and take the performance to a whole new level.  There will be no holding back on this tour,” said Maksim.
The show will tell the story of the two brothers and include storytelling, original music, acting and dancing. Maksim and Valentin are originally from Ukraine and immigrated with their family to Brooklyn in 1994.
“I think there’s a lot of surprises in the show, and I think the people – the audience that are fans of ours – are going to be pleasantly surprised, and those that aren’t and have never watched the show and just want to go out for an incredible night with the family to watch a beautiful show about, first of all family entertainment – we’ll satisfy all of those,” said Valentin.
Collaborating with the greatest choreographers in the business and supported by a cast of fellow professionals, the show will surprise and delight.
“It will be the most honest we’ve ever been to an audience,” said Valentin. “We want to entertain with incredible choreography and inspire while sharing our story, our way.”
Maksim is a Latin Ballroom dance champion, choreographer, Broadway performer and actor. He first appeared on “Dancing with the Stars” on the second season as a professional dancer and continued on the series for 14 seasons and won the Mirrorball Trophy in 2014 with Olympic ice dancer, Meryl Davis. He left the series after the win but has returned to act as a guest judge.
Valentin joined the cast of professional dancers on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2011. The 14-time U.S. National Champion and two-time World Dance Champion quickly rose to stardom, becoming one of the show’s fan-favorites for impeccable performances. Valentin is also the first American to win the IDSF World Championship. Valentin and partner Rumer Willis won the Mirrorball trophy during the tenth anniversary season of DWTS.
The brothers co-founded Dance with Me Dance Studios, with eight high-end social dance clubs nationwide dedicated to first-rate dance instruction. Valentin also lends his expertise as the venue’s art director.
Val is also a classically trained violinist, having performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center as a concertmaster of the ISO Youth Orchestra.
“You know, this show, this tour that we’re going on, ‘Our Way,’ is an opportunity to also showcase acting. It’s not just dance from beginning to the end. It’s storytelling. It’s dance. It’s acting. It’s spoken word. It’s going to be music, original music,” said Maksim. “It’s going to kind of combine all of those things together. And ultimately it’s an opportunity for us to express ourselves.”
