Space Coast Symphony string section to perform at St. John the Evangelist April 30th
The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will showcase their string section talent with “Time Machine,” a concert on Saturday, April 30th at 7 PM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 5655 Stadium Parkway, Viera, 32940. The concert opens with Antonio Vivaldi’s brilliant Concerto for Strings in G major, “Alla Rustica.” Carl Stamitz’s virtuostic Sinfonia concertante in D major will be brought to life by violinist, Dana Tolan and violist, Juan Carlos Siviero. The first half closes with Mozart’s entertaining and humorous A Musical Joke. Principal violist, Juan Carlos Siviero performs Paul Hindemith’s haunting Trauermusik. The concert closes with Antonin Dvorak’s very popular Serenade for Strings. Written in 1875 at a very happy time in his life, all five movements are beautifully crafted; it is one of the most popular works in the entire string repertoire. $15 tickets may be reserved or purchased in advance online at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org, purchased at the offices of Blue Sky Insurance in Cocoa Village and Tropical Realty of Suntree, or by calling (321) 536-8580. Tickets will also be available at the door; 18 years of age and under admitted free.
Conductor Aaron Collins is delighted to bring the Space Coast Symphony string players to Viera.
“We’re featuring several extremely talented Central Florida string musicians in this program,” said Collins. “And rather than a concert with works exclusively from the Romantic and Modern periods, ‘Time Machine’ will transport audiences to four different musical eras.”
The Space Coast Symphony will continue performing through the summer with concerts in May, June, July and August. They are the only orchestra in the Southeastern United States performing subscription concerts throughout the summer months and will present ¡Latin Fiesta! on June 4th.
